May 6, 2015: In a bid to make law enforcement more efficient and police officers more accountable, capital city of Emirate Dubai has started the trial with wearable cameras. As per the police press office statement, 80 cameras have been assigned for a 6 month of test period. The cameras will be installed on uniforms.
According to commander-in chief of Delhi Polic, Major Gen Khamis Matar Al Muzaina, the lightweight wearable tamper proof cameras, which has an ability to record up to eight hours, will also transmit data to an independent mobile server, and then back to headquarter.
The authorities hopes that the camera will help with officer training and evaluation, as well as a crucial support in dealing with public complaints and disputes. And it will also gauge the service of Dubai Police in dealing with the public in result providing a greater transparency.
