India's ecommerce site Myntra buys mobile-tech startup Native5

May 8, 2015: India's popular e-commerce site Myntra, which has been acquired by Flipkart last month, has acquired a Bengaluru based mobile app development platform startup Native5. The acquisition will add more strength and expand the company's mobile technology team.

Native5 was founded in 2012 aiming to build tools and services to enable cross platform app development on the cloud. The startup's entire team (except one member) will join the Myntra.

"We have been aggressively ramping up our product teams (with mobile expertise) and have been constantly on the lookout for quality talent both in India and the Bay Area. The Native5 team has built a hybrid development platform for mobile and we are keen to use their expertise to strenghthen our mobile offerings," says Myntra's chief, Shamik Sharma.

The worth of the deal is not disclosed yet officially, but Native5 already deactivated their website.

The startup's co-founder, Kunal Abhishek says: "With a strong focus on mobile, Myntra offers us a great oppurtunity to leverage the capabilities that we have built over the last 3 years."
